History
Serras is full of history, dating from 1846 the building was designed by architect Francesc Daniel Molina, who also created Barcelona´s Plaça Reial square just off the nearby Las Ramblas.
In 1896 the building housed a young Pablo Picasso´s artist´s studio on the rooftop of the building.
At only 15 years old he was already producing ambitious works such as the essential early painting “Ciencia y Caridad” which was painted here, in his first studio.
Design & Interiors
Designer Eva Martinez has created a harmonic fusion of Catalan style and contemporary city living in the interiors of Serras.
The use of wood, iron and traditional tile motifs nod to Barcelona´s industrial heritage and are combined with textiles and high-quality furnishings that add comfort and personality to the hotel´s interiors.
Industrial height ceilings and windows, plenty of natural light and lounge style furniture make the Lobby an airy, welcoming entrance to the hotel. The rooms and suites exude urban style and The Rooftop´s terrace space uses natural materials to create a pared back elegant ambience.
